Title: 12000uF Cap - where to find it?
Post by: Skruffyhound on July 20, 2019, 06:23:52 AM
Hi all, first post in a long time. I'm not exactly back in the game but the soldering iron is out!
I was wondering if anyone can help me source a 12000uF 50V 105 degree C (10mm leg spacing, 52mm high x 30mm diameter) electrolytic cap. I am a bit out of touch with suppliers. I can find one option at Mouser, but paying 20€ post for a 5€ component hurts a bit. They are too big for many pedal component suppliers, I thought maybe some of you tube amp guys might have an idea. I can see from the Chinese end that they are also used for ballast in flourescent lights, so not especially rare. Unfortunately I don't need 5000 of them or I could get them from over there!

The one I am replacing is from my friend's high end monitor speaker.

Thanks

Do a search on eBay.. Found one there quickly for $5.99US, and free shipping.

50mm x 30mm, 63V.

Ok, strangely, didn't think of that option. I'll check it out. Thanks

If you have the room, you could put three 4700uF in parallel. The exact total value isn't likely to be critical.

But could you swap in a 10000uF/63V cap?

Imho most of Panasonic, Nichicon 105deg C caps could be a potential candidate.
