Title: Debugging: DeadendFX Leo X
Post by: Strategy on June 01, 2020, 03:50:16 AM
Hi All, I'm in the troubleshooting phase with Leo X.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sFCZFCuWOLBSx4QH2nApUZrV6_f6ECI5/view

I have the feeling I am missing something obvious but can't put my finger on it. PSU is 12vac. Before adding IC's I calibrated the voltages per the build doc and when all the IC's are populated and I test again it's all good. But I have no signal passing either on or bypassed. And no light on the LED's.

A couple questions:
1. What do 'C' and 'A' on the power input indicate? I should check I have this correctly wired.
2. I possibly have the LED's wrongly wired. Made assumptions but I'm not really sure of orientation, only indication is an LED-shaped legend on the pcb screen?
3. Build pic on DEFX page shows Boost as a DPDT but BOM lists this as 3PDT so I wired up all 9 connections. An issue, or doesn't matter?

!. C and A are for the AC. Same difference tho. Doesn't matter which wire you solder to whatever pad.
2. For the LED's, when in doubt, the square pad is the anode (+, or longer) leg.
3. Doesn't matter. The C pads are not used. This was a design "copy/paste". You can use a DPDT, and only the A and B pads (or A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3).

OK, whole thing came to life when I got the LED's wired correctly!
Killer pedal! I love that it's an evolution of the Red Llama design. That has consistently been the overdrive that I always come back to above all others, and this adds some really interesting tone shaping. But having a clean blend is amazing - it's killer on bass.
