Title: eight channel phantom power question.
Post by: FUZZZZzzzz on August 20, 2021, 06:35:34 AM
hi! im using my tascam 388 for recording. It has a nice eq en nice preamps, but it doesn't have phantom power. obviously I need phantom power for a lot of microphones so i started looking for something online. im using a 8 channel mic pre with phantom at the moment, but the pre also changes my sound. You can buy a lot of phantom boxes, but nothing with 8 inputs. Is it easy to build something myself or should I maybe buy some smaller boxes and build them into a bigger 8 channel version?

any schematics are most welcome as well. also some advice. i want to switch them on or off per channel.

I could go this route

2 of those:

and then make the phantom switchable per channel. i could not find any schematic for something like this.

I have a Conneaut Audio Devices E-200 microphone that uses phantom power but also has a provision for a pair of 9-volt NiCd batteries inside.  I pulled the ones out that were in there because they were leaking.  I picked it up at a garage sale for $10.
