Title: Resistor across pot values
Post by: SprinkleSpraycan on August 13, 2023, 12:39:17 PM
Okay, I need a dual gang b10k pot. But I only have b50k dual gangs. So I soldered a 15k resistor across the outside lugs. But I hit 10k around 7oclock, spike up to 16k around 2oclock and then down to 10k fully clockwise.

Why? How to I get rid of this hump?

I've used this method before without this problem albeit on larger values. Confused.

The R goes from the wiper to one of the outside lugs.

Look at reply #19 on this topic
Plus the rest of the reply's for the nitty gritty of doing this.
And downfalls of such.

If it's for some sort of frequency control you might be better off using frequency caps 5 times smaller.
Always pays to check if the change affects any surrounding circuit.

Yes! Thank you. Lots of good information on that thread.
