Title: Colorsound Tone Bender Distortion / Colorsound Tone Bender Reissue (3 knob)
Post by: Rob Strand on August 19, 2024, 09:42:12 PM
The other day this Washburn A-D2 popped up and I was racking my head for a pedal which is an MXR Distortion+ with a Muff tone control.

Skipping through some stuff I found this schematic.  Not quite an MXR Distortion+.

It applies to:
- Colorsound Tone Bender Distortion        ; fairly rare pedal from maybe the 80's, small box
- Colorsound Tone Bender Reissue (3 knob)  ; re-issue from around 2000

Anyway the reason I'm posting is virtually all the schematics online have errors.   I rememeber some of the early pics were hard to read (leading to wrong tone control resistors 2k2, 22k instead of 33k).  Also a couple of electrolytics were doubtful.  Hopefully this fixes everything.

The opamp biasing is like my Red Fuzz but with lower resistors and a bigger input cap.
Less parts and I did not find noise issues compared to MXR+/DOD/Ross.
