Title: Issue when buiding one-knob overdrive
Post by: johnbertram on October 17, 2024, 03:07:15 AM
Hello,
I'm building a simple one-knob overdrive. I finished the circuit on perfboard and hooked up the jacks and pots to test it before connecting a switch and putting it in an enclosure.

When the effect is not plugged into a guitar there is a clearly audible signal that can be heard when tapping the input jack, however, when I plug it in to my guitar, there is no sound.

What might be causing this problem?

Possibly ground and hot switched somewhere between input jack and circuit board? So when you plug the guitar in you're effectively grounding the input?

But also: see the debugging FAQ and post layout and schematic etc, if you want helpful answers.

Ah man, these "one post and disappear" debuggers.

I need closure damnit!

In all seriousness - if you post a problem and then you solve it by yourself - post a follow up on the thread for the others who have the same problem in the future!!
