Title: brand name stompswitches: question
Post by: marc on November 15, 2003, 11:57:37 AM
A local vintage synth shop sells replacement dpdt stomp switches. They have both the Dunlop and the Electro Harmonix brand. They sell them for about the same price it would come to if I ordered from Steve Small Bear, factoring- in currency exchange, shipping, etc..., with the advantage of no waiting for delivery.
So I was wondering if anyone knows about these. Are they just rebranded from another manufacturer? Is one better than the other? This is kind of urgent, my x-wing switches are starting to go, all of them, and we have a show coming up next friday!

Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions,
Marc.
Title: Right...What's the 'best' kind

By best, I mean most reliable DPDT or 3PDT?
I'm going to have to see if I can find the bad contact, and see if there are enough 'good sides' where I can use them in this component [3PPDT] for reliable bypass.
So far, two of three tested: one bad.
Once bad there's no recourse?/? ie ways to fix a new switch?

pete, is part of your message missing? are you saying you bought one of these kinds of switches and it was bad? was this a response to another thread I have to look up in the archives?

Okay, so I finally hauled my lazy gluteus from in front of the computer screen over to this shop. The dunlop switch looks like a spdt (only three contacts), possibly a replacement for wah pedals? The electro harmonix is a 3pdt that looks to me to be the same one aron is selling- so I bought 'em.
