Title: Can someone build me a custom box?
Post by: ExpAnonColin on November 20, 2003, 09:48:22 PM
I need it to be around 25 inches long and about 6 inches deep.  Not necessarily aluminum, but that'd be the best.  There's a few other little things... like the lower 2 inches or so of the top need to have nothing there, so I can put these keys there...  Anyone can help me?  Pretty custom, but I'll pay pretty well too.

I would check this guy out:

I've never ordered from him, but the methods and materials look pretty nice. He's also a DIY supporter which is a plus for me. :)

Hey, do you have someway to post pictures of what your after. Or if your good with word diagrams give me a side view high dim. and low dim[if sloped]. A length of the box[ I believe you said 25 inches] Material required Alum. pretty handy for me, but whatever you need. If you can give me that info. I will build it and send it to you. I work in a sheetmetal shop and as part of my infatuation with guitars and effects I am working towards putting together some quality products. I wont charge you for this except for the postage and that would probably be almost non -existent. I would love to have a picture. If it works for you then it will be one more quality prod. and its more training for me if it doesnt work then your not out anything. .......if it works for you then maybe you can cut me a deal on some pots or whatever!       troublerat@aol.com

I will be looking for it. I have to remember my yahoo photos address[ in the past I have posted some pictures of stuff that I have built and [ you may want to check it out]. I am working on some ideas for effects cases. My main goal is to make them cost effective, easily manufactured[by me of course]. And footstompable. If I can field some examples and get a feel what everybody is looking for that would help to get some constructive criticism........

the opening that spans the length is 2inches by 29 inches. The box is 29 by 6.the bottom, and four sides are one piece, and I suppose that the 4 inches left in the top will be a removable cover sort of thing? And if you dont tell me anything different I will turn down 2 inches to sort of enclose the opening[ I will probably make one of each to give you a choice but I think I know what you want. G ive ame a couple of days to turn it around.

Actually, I'd like no cover or moving parts at all.  Just one big 29x2 hole on the top, the rest of it is basically a 29 wide x 6 long x 2 high box, with the exception of the 2 inch in depth hole on the top.  So you'll be making 6 peices: The bottom, which would be a peice 29 in width and 6 in height, the left and right sides, which would be...  6 inches long and 2 inches wide, then the front and back sides, 29 inches long and 2 inches wide, then the top peice, which would be 4 inches wide and 29 inches long.  Hope it all makes sense... I'll be putting something in the hole that will cover up the innards, so I don't need any hinges or covers, although it would be nice if I could open up the bottom to put things in it by unscrewing it, but I could probably manage OK without that.  Thanks a ton for doing this.

Does anyone in England have a source for custom size enclosures?
