Title: Big Muff Russia v. Big Muff USA
Post by: Somicide on December 11, 2003, 04:01:37 AM
Is there a difference in tone on these or what?  I've been playing with my friends BMP Ru for the past month (somebody broke into his car and swiped my DOD deathmetal and digitech chorus) and really have fallen for it.  I've gotten the schem, just need to know if there's a difference in tone, as the schem doesn't match the board on the BMP Ru.

yes, there is a difference.  I'm not real well versed in bmps, so I don't have the detiails.  Of course almost every bmp seems to sound different.  Seems to be very random sounds, almost as bad as fuzz faces!  Some good units, some bad.

The old Sovteks are pretty sweet, though a little out of control on the low end (an open E will overwhelm EVERYTHING!!!).  I haven't used a reissue Sovtek, but I've heard they suck, and I know they have inferior components.  The original USA's are great.  This site from one of the kickass members of this forum (I'm a newbie) has the schem for the Sovtek:
