Title: squelchy sunshine
Post by: jimmy on December 12, 2003, 06:29:00 AM
hi all

im building an orange sunshine fuzz for my brother for christmas, and ive done up a pcb, and populated it, and im using BC548s, at the moment.

it has this weird squelch sound over the top of the note, im thinking its misbiased somehow, but its worked for me before. it also seems to not have enough gain.

any suggestions?

cheers
Jim

I've said it many times and I believe it's in the forum or on my schematics page.

It IS misbiased. It's an "effect" kind of distortion. At least the one I have, doesn't have a lot of distortion, it has a classic misbiased harsh tone.

I believe you are getting a similar tone.

If you want to "fix" it, put a trimmer on one of the collectors and adjust the bias.

But it's not going to be like the original that I have.

Anything useing misbias as effect might should be tuned to the desired amnt...of misbais.
Q2's C got a trimpot on My O Sunshine clone...just seems like with the gain diff's of these tranny''s, A trim there for bias/misbais...or a 'tuned' unit with more carefully chosen fixed value for Q'2s Collector
If ciyrse sinetunes I just socket that R instead  ^
