Yeah... if Craig is like most engineers, he probably submitted his schem on a piece of graph paper, and some well meaning artist did that inset graphic. He probably though he was helping. I'm sure when Mr. Anderton got his copy he thought, "Aw crap, I shoulda checked the proof!"
I've had that happen with over-zealous, under-technical tech writers on plenty of occasions... it pays to attend those doc reviews...
