Title: Boutique Fuzz Face at GGG - question
Post by: saxtim on January 01, 2004, 04:26:00 AM
Just curious about the contour and bias pots on this design.  Could someone explain what they do? (sonically)  I'm thinking about adding them onto my recently completed regular fuzz face, but I'd like to know what added flexibility they add before I bother fiddling.

thanks

The input pot works like a 'stop adjust' for your guitar volume [adjust that for Full but not oversaturated fuzz, and cleanup at chosen guitar volume  setting [like a duplicate guitar volume]
The little 1k, yer on yer own...I board mounted mine and don' remem that it had a large effect on the sound

I just wired this up - the input pot works as you said.  The 'contour' pot - I can't figure out the purpose of this.  It seems to simply act as another volume control - It doesn't in anyway effect fuzz, tone etc, only the output volume.  Is this what it's supposed to do?

I think it effects the character of the mids and the *fuzziness* of the fuzz. I tried a Fulltone 69, and that seemed to be what that control was doing. It will also effect the volume.
