Title: TS-9 is it possible?
Post by: idsnowdog on January 03, 2004, 10:23:35 PM
I was looking at the PCB layout at Tonefrenzy of the TS circuit.  I recently moded and subsequently destroyed a TS and I was thinking about building one from scratch.  What got my attention is where the three clipping diodes are up the upper left hand corner.  I was thinking what about six diodes?  Not that all would be on at the same time.  I was thing about three on/on/on switches. The diodes could be mounted on plug in sockets so I could experiment.  What kind of combos could I get?

Your idea offers a good bit of versatility.  I recommend some series resistors with some of the diodes.  Try one 470 ohm, an 810 ohm, a 1.5k and a 10k with four of the six diodes, then try an asymetrical pair for the other two.  hopefully this is food for thought...
Title: Maybe this?

This is what I figured might work.

GE         SI         1n4001
jump      jump     jump
Shottky  Zener    LED

This way I could get a little flavor from each?  But in practice maybe combos of each might be more practicle?
