Short of painting the box, how is it possible to decorate stompboxes? I'd like to put the red, black, and yellow "5150" stripes on one of my boxes, and fancy the Evanescence logo on my other box.
Any ideas for getting said logos onto my boxes? (Boxes are made of plywood).
Humbuck.
I've never done this yet to a pedal, but on some other wood projects, I've used the many different colors of electrical tape to make stripes and other designs, then clear-coated right over it. Works fine.
Dark T-Shirt transfers? :D
If it's wood, burn it. That is, you could make a design, either a negative or positive, with a flame retardant tape or substance. Then, you take a propane torch and darken the exposed wood to your liking, or just burn it randomly. I don't know if a clearcoat would adhere to the charred areas, though. Don't try burning it if it's already covered in something flammable.
well, ole Eddie used the 'electrical tape' method (as Fret Wire stated) on his guitar, so if you use that, at least it wouold be authentic. By the way, Ed used Shwinn bicycle paint (I thing thats the right spelling, but dont quote me) on his main early axe- I reackon it would be cool to use the same brand of paint as EVH. I dont know the correct order the colours where applied though, sorry.
Good luck,
Cheers,

The bicycle paint will have certain sonic properties as well, ofcourse
Use masking tape and brush on the stripes? (would give a nice straight line)
