Title: help! mxr dist+ problem
Post by: morthek on January 11, 2004, 08:28:15 PM
i´ve costructed tonepad schematic for mxr dist+ and there is no sound going out of it so i got a DMM and started measuring the voltages , there is no voltage coming from any of the pots plus in C6(1uF) there is voltagen coming from the + of it, but none coming from the - , so i put another 1uF and the same thing is happening. may is this the problem? what should i do? thanks

forgot to tell . there is sound getting out of it but is VERY low, i tunned the amp int the maximum value and i could hear something, but the sound should be much highter

Caps block DC ;) Maybe that's it. But it still doesn't explain the problem. Voltage doesn't come from anywhere, current does. "Voltage stands for potential difference measured in volts" to quote my physics book. ;) So on one side of the cap you measured a voltage, on the - side you didn't. which means the cap is working fine.

You should measure voltages at transistor/opamp pins ;) Then post em here so someone who can get PDF reader to work can help you :)

You should be getting about 4.5V at the output of the opamp, pin 6 of a single opamp like the 741).

If you have a digtial multimeter.... you should also see about 4.5V on inverting input pin 2 and a little less than 4.5V on the inverting input pin 3.
