Along with a couple of friends, I have made an audio processor (a hard-knee limiter) called the Sherlock. It is a clone of the old Level-Loc device, originally intended for use as a gain controller for podium mics, but which has found use in studios as an unusual-sounding compressor. (Especially for room mics!)
If you record, you should check it out. It would sound like crap if you built one as a stompbox (the attack/release/ratios really aren't made for direct guitar) but if you record guitar amps with mics, this could make a good addition to your arsenal. (It is $69 for a kit, so it is not so bad.)
A lot of people already have resplendent parts drawers and a thousand switches/knobs/jacks sitting around, so I am offering the bare PCB + manual as well.
