Title: UltraFlanger Build Report
Post by: jimmy on January 14, 2004, 06:32:51 AM
hi everyone

i finished my ultraflanger!!! well you sure can get some WACKY sounds out of this. tweaking the manual knob makes it go from pitch-bending weirdness, to a regular flange, to completely dry, and if you turn the regen knob right up it goes along making that weird flange-noise with no guitar. quality.

a few q's. there a teeny bit of distortion happening. how do i get rid of that. also how do i set the odd/even trimpots?

thanks

cheers
Jim

The odd/even trims are to set the max regen without self-oscillation -- so if you don't want the flanger noise with no input, crank the regen to max, then adjust the trim for each switch position until the self-oscillation stops.

I had a problem with distortion as well.  I installed the optional 5k(TR3).  I had to crank it, giving more voltage than what was reccomended.  It was for the most part cleared up (still a little gain in (-) mode).  I still get self-oscillation with my regeneration no matter how I adjust tr1&tr2. I just managed to get it minimized.  Also, one of the modes, (-) I believe, seems a little weak to me.  Depending on how/where I use the effect, the ticking isn't too bad.
