Those miniature pots we use for effects,are they 1/4W or 1/2W power rating?.
I'm thinking if I could use them for the FireFly.

i have used regular sized alphas in everyone i have done with no problems

You mean 4mm shaft pots or "regular" 6mm shaft pots?
Regular values are 0.2-0.4W for small ones (log has a lower rating than lin) to 1W for the heavier metal cans that I use to 5W for ceramic wafer types - try and find a datasheet for the brand you have.
They should work just fine in preamp situations, though.
