Title: more two schematics and a VERY simple dual channel overdrive
Post by: Marcos - Munky on January 20, 2004, 08:21:48 PM
In my site. Mutant FuzzAmp2 and Mutant Drive Booster by Guilherme Borges and GES Double Jam by me. The Double Jam is maybe the simplest dual channel overdrive in all the world. Check them.

Forgot to say: The soundclips are really bad, I recorded them in very low volume and need to make it more audible in my PC, but the noise is more audible too. The real unit sounds a lot better than the soundclips.

A very interesting schematic...I went to the data sheet for the 386...now I see what Ya'll are talkin about !!!
Ya jest take yer Basic 386, hook it up and GO! ...looks like you could get something to work with a coupleing caps [few?] and maybe a resistor [or 2]
I'm seeing more and more of this on the data sheets. Kinda nice when a viel is lifted and the 'light' comes on' !!!
I didn't realize how somple these 386 to use as amplifier really are till I saw this schematic...whoops got too easy gonna hafta complicate it again!!!
I built a Smash Drive sometime ago [about 20 min. wiring the ckt] the thing gets raucous!!!
Should be easy to throw some parts on there now like Ansil and many others have been doing...KOOL !!!

To tell the truth, I never read datasheets, just use them to see the pinouts, and SOMETIMES see the applications :P. This dual overdrive I built without know what I was doing, I just used the caps and tried to use the pin 2 input, and came with this. A cool feature that I got is if you use the pin 3 as the input and disconnect the pin 1 and pin 8 you will get a nive booster.

I uploaded a new schematic with some ideas suggested by Gary.

Nice work, Munky.  I'm happy the ideas worked out.  This should be a versatile, good sounding and simple to build distortion.  Thanks for the initial idea should go to Dave Stork, Tim Escobedo and ofcourse, Aron for their work with the 386.

Well done.

Thanks, Gary. Without your ideas, I goot a good sound, but after you suggested me the buffer and pots, the sound is cool!!!
