Title: mods to the differential distortion
Post by: youngi on January 23, 2004, 10:10:17 AM
hii.
well my diff distortion is working great on the breadboard, and i'm gonna make it on a perfboard, so i wanted to add a volume pot, what value should it be?

and what other pots can i add to control bias, tone, and what value??
and where to be put exactly??
thx

I would try a 100K at the end of the circuit. As for tone, anything goes. I can't remember if the circuit had a lot of output. For some reason, I remember it being not much.

In the simple mods, I have a bias pot control for that circuit.

You might even try putting a bypass cap on the emitter leg of the first transistor for more distortion. It might make it sound cool.

Read about Frank Clarke's work with the circuit: http://fclarke.softwareballistics.com/Distortion/DifferentialDistortionNotes.html

Wow thanks, B. I remember reading that but forgot about the link.

What happened to Frank?
