Title: Mu-Tron Micro V: new project in pisotones.com
Post by: Manolo Dudes on January 26, 2004, 04:03:16 AM
Mu-Tron Micro V (http://www.pisotones.com/MuTron_Micro-V/Mutron-Micro-V.htm) envelope follower in www.pisotones.com

To my knowledge, this is the first time publication of the schematic for this rare effect. A nice collaboration by Miguel Badia.

In spanish, as usual  :P

Thanks for the link. It's quite funny:

"And, the truth, is the satisfactory sea from gutting them, shooting them and to clonar them  :D  :D  :D  :D

...but the funniest is translating "Auto-Wah" in the original to "Car-Wah" in english!!

Hope you find less problems in english than in spanish!    :P

yup, 68k pF = 68000pF = 68nF

Quote from: puretubeHi Man: what is a 68k capacitor in english: 68n ?

I have a ton of metallised polyester film caps which have k after the numerical value.  With these 68k would be 68n, but whether this is standard I couldn't say...

Edit:  PS Manolo, thanks for all the work!

Back in the heyday of electronics, the capacitors were mostly made of rolled paper as dielectric material. 1 cm (centimeter) of that paper equalled 1pF.

It seems that it was common to name the capacity in "centimeters" so one "k" was used as 1000cm (kilocm) of paper or one "kilopicofarad", that is, a nanofarad.

Beautiful story to say the same as JonC already said

1K = 1nF

My father in law, in fact a very talented electronics expert and well above the age of 70, still uses that naming. He usually says "47000 centimeters capacitor" instead of 47nanofarads,  etc. :)

He told me all this. I never use this naming convention but it seems that Miguel Badia, the author of this article, in fact does use it.

You're right, dr. I searched the web for this schematic but couldn't find it anywhere.

Sometimes I simply ignore the obvious
