Title: 9.1 volt zener question
Post by: Russ on January 27, 2004, 11:35:09 PM
Hey guys,
What wattage 9.1 volt zener do you need to use in connecting between the gate and source of a BS170 transistor (such as Jack's Mosfet booster, etc.)?
Is 0.5w okay, or does it need to be 1w?

1/2 watt should be just fine. The zener is only used to protect the gate from static so the actual current is VERY small, but the voltage is HUGE.

Best of luck on your boost!

Take care,
