Hi,
Can anyone recommend me some cool looking fonts for printing enclosure labels? The ones I have installed on my computer are quite boring and after sifting through dozens of "free" font web sites I still haven't found something useful.
Oh, and it should be scissor-friendly! Because I print the text (mirrored) on the paper back of self-adhesive foil and cut it out. Works fine if the font isn't too complex.
Any recommendations?
on a somewhat related note, does anyone know have their hands on a "Boss-type" font? (akin to what Boss letters their pedals with. My friends band is notorious for using huge effects chains on everything but the drums and I was asked to design a "pedal" graphic for them, with the pedal being the band name - while none of my designs look like Boss pedals, I think a similar font would look really great here. (And I think it'd also be funny to have a distortion box kludged together out of one of my poorly finished junction boxes with Boss style logos on it. )
You can actually get some interesting things by using standard fonts and distorting them with filters, like fish-eye lenses, or making them wiggly or look windblown or 3-d. I've used the 3-d text-art applets with WordPerfect to good effect in past.
SFR,
Funny you should request, because I'm printing out A-Z sheets of all of my fonts (almost 900) so I can archive them and use them as needed; going to starting doing freelance graphic design, hopefully.
Anyhoo, I have a font that not IDENTICAL to the Boss font, but quite close. I used it on my Boss DS-1's when I did the Seeing Eye and Ultra mods to them. It's all caps though.
Give me your e-mail addy and I'll send it. If it doesn't work for you, let me know what kind of font you're looking for (script, crazy, grunge, etc.) and I'll see what I have.

This might help you finding your Boss style font...
For simple labels, I use a font called "Impact".
Others that look cool are
"Blade runner" - modern, sci-fi
"Calamity Joe" - broken down
"Deftone Stylus" - 1950s look
"Densmore" -as used by the Doors
"Medusa" - hippie, 1960s
"Optic.bot" -distorted, weathered
"Zinc boomerang" - curvey outline
FWIW I'm using 'Medusa' for my 'That 70's Pedal.' (70 Fuzz)
