Title: Fisher Price Guitar AMP!!!
Post by: Hal on January 28, 2004, 08:53:16 PM
its all packed up and done...check this out...
http://www.geocities.com/halnotincluded/amp.jpg

it actually sounds SICK.  if I ever feal like experimenting with my compter mic, I'll post clips... The pot on the front is 100k audio for pre-gain.  The knob on the top left is post gain (was already there).  As I posted before, it runs on an LM389 amp (I'm assuming similar to the LM386).  Powered by 4 C batteries :-D

Only problem is a weird clicking sound herd when the post volume is up past about 5.  The clicking is low in pitch, and fairly high in frequency (but still noticable different clicks...)  Any ideas?  I guess I should sheild the chassis...

peace out dudes, and I hope I gave somebody a laugh :-D

Cool!

It's been a while, but I once used the circuit from one of those as a preamp. It had some feirce compression.

Some things you should do/have done:

- have the 100nF + 2R7 network at the output

- have a 100uF cap across the supply rail in parallel with 100nF

- wire the grounds in a star pattern at the chip ground.  This means
the ground track for the input side should not pass speaker current or amplifier/power supply current.

- perhaps add a 10uF form pin 3 to ground.

- Keep the input and pot wiring away from the output.
