Title: how to use a LDR as a Zoom expression pedal here
Post by: Marcos - Munky on January 29, 2004, 08:57:38 PM
I come with this thread some days ago, but today I finally tried to adapt a LDR to use as the expression pedal. I ended with this:
sleeve-----3k3 resistor-------LDR------tip
Ring is connected here: ^^[/code]

I think I'm gonna have to read more things before I start having ideas.

First I start reading about op-amps and realise that I could make a wah pedal out of them, then I read a post that says that it was done years ago.

Then I decide to use an ldr to allow me to put an 'expression  pedal' onto the gain of a big muff.

Grrr I had better stop having ideas ;)

I think this isn't a good idea, because some ldrs have the "full pot" when they are in the darkness. The one that I tried acts like a volume when there aren't any effects to control with him, and I got a low volume, that only back to normal volume when I make a shadow in the ldr. I put a switch to turn the ldr on and off, so you can use the expression only when you want. And don't stop to have ideas, some time ago I was thinking like you, but don't give up, maybe you could have a great idea if you don't stop to try to have them.
