Title: tube screamer pots
Post by: tauscj55 on February 04, 2004, 03:27:20 PM
quick question: what pots are used in the tube screamer? I see on general guitar gadgets that it specifies 25k linear(tone), 100k linear      (level),500k log(drive) whereas on tonepad it specifies 20K linear(tone), 100k (log)level, 500k linear(drive).  Which one is "correct," or better yet what can I expect with these said values??

the differences aren't much... the 100k audio will help the volume control sound more even as you turn the knob.. the tone pot was a 20kG pot... you can't really find them... you won't find much difference between the 20k and 25k... 25k will be easier to find...

100k linear (B taper)
500k log     (A taper)
20k   G taper,
the change to 25k will be undetectable.
the change to linear means you get some cramping of the control
near the ends.  As marrstians said, G is quite difficult to get.

You should email Francisco and report the error.
