Title: guys , this is very important to me please reply
Post by: troubledtom on February 06, 2004, 08:15:12 PM
this may sound funny......but...
how many of you stomp[ your devices ] with your  right , left, or both
feet. for example:
i use just use my right foot for all foot control if i have to sing and play at the same time. i use less stuff if i'm sing'n too.
but if all i do is play the neo-guitarwashedupsubhero i'll use the left foot
for stomp'n and the right for volume and wha stuff.
           thanx,
                  pedalpals,

Raising my right foot... that balances out when you factor in guitar neck weight...

Right-handed guitar, right-footed stomper.  Left foot just seems to get in the way of playing.

Right handed. Right foot stomper. Was a goofy foot (right foot forward) surfer.

Right maybe, but I could try left, too. But for wah maybe right is what I would start.

I did that brain dominance test (I dont remember the if link was at AMZ or did mr. Jack post it in the distortion audio test thread or some other discussion...   or was it some brainwave control circuits discussion. I believe there lives a little lefty handie inside me (I draw and write with left hand but play "normal"), and perhaps I am little bit some sicko mixture mutant

if i am singing lead.... which is abou 25% i only use my left foot.  otherwise i tend towards my left, but will use both.  Always use right for wah though.    what is sort of wierd is i always switch behind the beat, unless i intenionaly switch early.  What is really wierd is i've sort of incororated that in to my style.

Both. I'm right handed, but my pedalboards are set up on both sides of me, so when I'm at the mic, I must hit pedals on the left and right. There was a time when I'd try to hit one on each side at the same time!

98% right here.  I have a FULL 32x16 board.  When I do use my left, I feel like I'm going to fall over, but then again my right leg is longer than the left, so that may have something to do with my right preference!  !!

Troubled Tom!  How are things going in the world of Troubled Variance?

I'm a natural born lefty. I do everything left-handed except when it comes to guitar, which I play right-handed.  I also stomp with my right foot.  I guess being left-handed and left-footed are two different things ;)

Almost always switch with the right foot. I also often place the footswitch of my diy projects in the bottom right corner rather than the center. Coincidence? Ergonomic stompboxes anyone? If I ever sell them, I'll be sure to point that out. Maybe I'll offer a left-footed option as well...for an extra cost of course.

Tom,i asket about the vietnamese people if they could eventually make boxes but you were right;nothng for them is interesting unless you are talking really big numbers. My neigbour, who is running the SS factory doesn`t bother ordering under 10000 pieces a time because only then it is worth the trouble of importing he told me.
As for stomping i use my right foot all the time.

It depends on what my stituation is. I'm a lefty player, but in one band where I don't front the band, I stomp with my left. I'm naturally right handed though. So when I front a band I set everything up so that I can stomp with my right. It sounds very strange I know.

I use both, depending on the order wich I´m switching.
My board is, from left to right: (effects brand and model change, but I try to keep the kind the same)

delay, chorus, fuzz, autowah, wah, smallstone(this is a keeper), volume

So if I'm playing dirty, and want to swiths to clean-delay, I use both feet simultaneously.

Other timer I wah with my left, 'cause I want to turn the smallstone on afterwards...sometime with my right, tu turn my distortion on....

I see you point, I think. Are you polling this to figure where to put the swith in each box? If so, keeping them ALL centeres will give you the same distance between stomps as keeping them all aligned to one side...you see?
Title: If the polls are still open...
Post by: David on February 09, 2004, 09:01:51 AM
I would prefer to stomp with my right, but if I use a music stand at church, I put my pedalboard on the left of the stand and use my left foot.  I started grade school as a southpaw, but I was "converted" to a rightie.  I play guitar rightie.  If space permits, I stomp rightie.  When I have my wah built, I'll have to stomp rightie whether I have a music stand or not.  I don't think I'll have the foot dexterity to control a wah with my left foot.
Title: guys , this is very important to me please reply
Post by: Jay Doyle on February 09, 2004, 09:36:11 AM
Right: Wah and most stompboxes.
Left: Those stompboxes I can't get to in time with my right foot.
Title: Right generally...
Post by: petemoore on February 09, 2004, 09:37:00 AM
But the way the stage is at the last place, I ended up putting the efkts board to my left, half under a pool table...away from the 'stage idiots'...one drunk guy 'decided' to lie down on my pedalboard...it didn't look very comfortable...lol...went backways Over the monitor and onto my pedalboard ... Ppl's eyes are drawn to it, then the body just seems to follow...there are three instances that stand out [in the last two months] where ppl are trippin over, or falling onto my pedalboard...no damages to pedals...the one girl had to be carried away though, and I always carry a spare ToneB or FF...
So I used my left foot for everything except wah wah...the left foot is too 'dumb' for wah..the right foot is like hardwired and takes much less brain power for it to function properly.
If it's any help...more of my recent builds have the switch on the right side /front....[the rest switch  in the middle/front] none on the left side.

Just a side note about one thing I don't like: footswitches too close to knobs or switches.

I am not very precise when I hit a footswitch... so I could kill a switch or a pot easily if it was too close to the footswitch.

That's why I bought a remote footswitch for a project I have in mind that could have many pots or switches...
