Title: DIY car audio modding?
Post by: Fret Wire on February 07, 2004, 11:37:56 PM
Does anyone know of any sites that have DIY mods for car audio recievers and such? I've seen sites for home audio DIY. One theme in the home audio sites that is the same as pedals: upgrading to better quality components and quieter IC's with more headroom. I have a Kenwood Excelon MP3/cd reciever that needs a little more output and headroom before it clips (not good in stereos). Due to space concerns, I can't add an amp. I tried a search but couldnt find anything. Definately off topic, but as guitar players, we all like our "wattage in the cottage"!

Thanks,

Pete

Thanks Ansil, nothing on Kenwood though. With some of the amazing installation work some of these guys do, you'd have to think they pop open the head units and have at it. I tried a Yahoo search. I'll give Google a shot. Here's a link if anyone is interested in modding home stereo:

The Burr-Brown IC's seem to be popular for DVD/CD players.
