Title: fuzzface noise?
Post by: ufo on February 17, 2004, 10:25:17 PM
Hi there,

I have put the parts together on a bredboard an it works almost perfectly!  It actually sounds pretty good!  But when the volume control on my guitar is turned all the way down and I turn the fuzz pot up, I get a weird sound (modulations) at some point (about 3/4 up) and then a hum when it is at max distortion. As soon as I start raising the volume on my guitar, it is gone.

I had the same problem when I wired the negative ground version. I think there is a capacitance problem when you wire it this way. I built another FF with a POS GND and it didn't have the problem.

IIRC, that issue was solved placing a big cap (> 100uF) between 9v and ground.

Hope it helps.

I tried a 220uf/16v but it seems to get hot.
