Any particular voltage I should use? I'd think the lower the better, because it would mean a smaller size, but around 16v would be good yes?

16V is good for 9V effects.
25V or 35V for 18V effects.

As long as it's well over the maximum voltage you're going to apply across your circuit, you'll be OK, but the higher the voltage, the larger the cap will be ;)

thanks for the info, I've been finding lots of 25v and some 16v, so i think I'll go with those. thanks again!
