I finally got a a couple of pics of the cores I was talking about.
I'll try get them posted online later on today but if you want to take a look email me and I'll send them. I am curious to know if these would work too. That woudl be neat and probably an easier wind than a PU for the first time.
I like to take a look.

Well I did moe reserach and came up with this:
"The original halo and film can inductors used P18/11 pot cores (18mm diameter, 11mm tall). According to information on the web, there were a few different halos, using different ferrite materials. Fasel inductors in '70s Italian wahs and the Thomas Organ "stack of dimes" use smaller P14/8 pot cores."

I am confused a bit as the ones I got have 1811P 3b7 written on them but they are only 5 mm tall....They are 18 mm wide though.
Well so I am bit confused but I think I got close but not close enough....
Is there a way to wind the cores I have and get around the 500 mH?
Stacked in series??
Hmmm gonna have to dig more.... Thanks!!
What size wire and what length would you use?
From what I glean in the past posts (still reading) I think #40 or #42 copper wire is the stuff. I am prettys sure this is at the store I got the cores from.
No idea about length.
I was thinking I would learn as much as I can and then tear apart on or two and have a peak.....right before I give up entierly :O)
Just kidding. I would like to pull it off once or twice just to say I have doen it :O)
