Title: Nefarious Bad Stone Phase Shifter
Post by: Stef on February 20, 2004, 01:23:46 PM
I acquired this vintage monster sometime ago in a trade- how can you not ‘dig’ that name (EH forever dominates that category) 8). It has some cool properties, nice lush sweep up to a proxy ring mod and a unique switch that allows for manual phase shift. The issue is that like the SS there’s a volume drop that I’d like to fix. If anyone has any insight on this I’d really like to make the changes :D; other mods might be interesting too.
Here’s a schematic from JD’s site: http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/v2/diagrams/badstone_2.jpg

Thanks, Stefan

Why don't you add a JFET booster with a trimpot so you can set it to unity gain when it's on?

Thanks Ben, I thought about a jfet booster and if it comes down to it there is that option as well as the ‘living with it’ one as well . Truthfully I'm hoping that there might be an idea for a volume mod similar to the one done in the small stone :D; working with what is already in the guts.

Yeah but FETs have nicer impedances and are lower parts count ;)
