Title: Vulcan built
Post by: Marcos - Munky on February 25, 2004, 04:13:33 PM
And it rocks!!! I finished mine today, and played a little with it. I got a cool sound with single notes and chords, cool to play AC/DC songs with that lots of chords and Satriani. The sound is really better than any other overdrive that I saw. The gain pot was useless for me, because I want high gain and there's no problem to play chords in higher gain settings. I just want to do a suggestion: this needs a tone control. The standard tone is cool, but it will be a lot better with a Marshall style tone stack. And it is cool to play blues too :P.

I think Joe's site has a tone control on it.

Yeah, in Joe's site there is a 3 band tone control. I was thinking about the Way Huge tone control. If I try something I post her.

:?  Does anyone found the way huge parts values for that BMP tone control???

I'd really apreciate if I could try that, as I had never been satisfied with the original BMP tone stack values nor with the mods I tried...

How is the noise level? Any radio pickup? Thanks for providing some quick feedback and constructive advice... I almost added a tone control, but I'm not very good with those.. I have an idea for one though.

The noise level is very little, almost zero. The only noise that I heard is a common noise that all amps have in Brazil, because we don't use that ground pin in the middle of the power plug. I didn't got any radio pickups too. I didn't put it in a box yet, but I think I will do this in the weekend. I have a suggestion for you, Joe. What about to make non-overdrive effects, like phasers, wahs and others? Then we can have a "Joe Davisson" pedalboard. I saw that you made a tremolo, and it's in my list of things to do. I have a almost finished P.E.T. too, that needs only the transistor and pots, and a booster to get a loud volume (I built it once, and the volume is lower than the guitar signal).

Here's a geek litmus test: how many saw the title of the thread and thought "must have used stone knives and bearskins?"

Wierd what do you hear? All the plugs in my room aren't grounded either... Are you gonna record any soundclips? :)
