Title: EH deluxe memory man "overloading" Q?
Post by: nightingale on February 25, 2004, 04:21:06 PM
hello forum~
i'm still around, just lurking mostly these days... anyway, a friend gave me his newer EH deluxe memory man to look at... he says that it is "overloading" very easily...

i have been tinkering around looking at the voltage readings on the chips, but i seem to be going around in circles with this thing... anyone have any experience repairing DMM's that could shed some light here... all sugestions are welcome here... i really wanna fix this thing for my pal!

This IS the way it works. It's always been like this and it's really not overloading as much as you think it may be. The pedal will easily match unity gain and a little more. Anything beyond that is "overload".

I assume you are talking about the red LED overload light that comes on.

thanks a million aron~
i understand the effect pretty well... but recently the pedal is "overloading" alot earlier than a week or two ago...

i have it apart, and there are alot of trim pots... but i'm pretty scared to touch any of them...

perhaps it might be a good idea to ask my buddy what kind of OD's, or boosters that he is running into this thing.. i guess it seems ok, i just gave it the AB test with my 70's stereo memory man... it only really distorts when the level is past unity... which makes perfect sense to me... thanks!

If I remember, none of the trim pots had anything to do with the input stage op amp..... but I didn't _really_ look into the trims.

You might want to do the mod where you put a TL072 in there.

you may ask your question at the Harmony-Central effects-forum, and pretty sure Howard Davis will respond...
