Hey guys
I have a boss DD-2 and when I stomp it on it goes Bonk Bonk bonk bonk bonk ... It's pretty annoying and sometimes it just goes bonk once and stops working, then I tap it with my foot and it goes bonk an works again. I got it for free because it did this and I think it's time something was done to stop it doing that... Any ideas what could be wrong with it? :?

Dead battery, bad switch, loose jacks? Is the plastic insulator sheet still between the pcb and bottom plate? Sounds like a short.

This makes me think that something is shorting out. Are the jacks good ?

Jacks are fine, wiring's fine. I use a wallwart and my 5 other pedals are pretty happy ao that's not it. There's still a plastic plate between the box and PCB. I have taken a look and I've noticed that
A) the rubber ring for the battery hatch is gone and
B) That when I press the footswitch and then push it down a little bit as if there were a rubber ring, the delay comes on no problem sometimes but not always.. grrr :x

If the rubber grommet is gone, that would allow the switch to be pressed down a little bit further. I don't know if that would be enough to damage the switch? My CE-2 acts like the switch is bad the minute the battery gets a little weak. Drives me nuts! Did you power it with the wallwart all by itself? Smallbear has the replacement switches pretty cheap.
Even with a fresh battery at 9.3v it does the wierd noise. I screwed it up a bit tighter, now if I'm gentle and lucky it doesn't make a lot of sound when switching on, but I can't stomp it hard...
