Has anyone used the NSL32 optoisolators for a neutron (Mutron III clone). Even though it is mentioned in Geofex neutron article, I've checked the specs and it seems to have an OFF resistance of 500K, that is a lot less from the 10M of the VTL5C3 (which I know from another member of the forum that works).
In case it does not work, would it be possible to make it work by increasing the value of the 220k resistor in parallel with the LDR?
I think that difference in OFF resistances between
VTL5C3 and NSL32 is not important because maximum
resistance is limited with 220k resistors.
As far as I remember resistance in Mutron clones should
vary somewhere between few kohms and 100kohm.
I use NSL-32 in DOD 280
compressor and it works perfectly.
This weekend NSL's will go into the heart of
Meatball clone ;-)
I mentioned Neutron because I guessed that there is more people who have done Neutrons instead of Meatballs and they seem to be very much alike... It is really going to be used for the Meatball  , so we will share experiences with the NSL32.
Thanks for your help... Hope everything works as expected!!!
Did you build it Nick123? I built it and I suppose it needs different values for R10 and R11, because it is only playable with the intensity pot set to minimum and the trigger set to UP. I'll do some tests today.
I didn't have time to finish it :-(
In my DOD 280 compressor clone
I have noticed that there was a difference
in response between NSL-32 and VTL5C3.
I would try the 100ohm + 1klin combination.
I might try this evening. I'll let you know how I get along.
