What ended up being the problem?

Tiny bits of copper between PCB traces :D
Yes the old warnings that everyone gives about looking at a PCB under a magnifying glass under bright light... well - they're true.
This was some piece of copper so thin that you couldn't see it without a magnifying glass - under bright light - AND at a particular angle...
but it was enough to short out the output stage.
It's all working great now - I just came back from putting it side-by-side with a Fulltone Deja Vibe... and to my pleasant surprise - it was REAL close (and the EasyVibe was quieter)..
Thanks again to all that helped!! I'm vibin'

To screw things up.
Takes alot of searching to find it sometimes though.
You got the kool parts in there, I bet that thing is pure pleasure !!!
