Title: Gain Control Jump
Post by: Alpha579 on March 02, 2004, 03:36:06 AM
Hey all,
Im designing a od pedal, and i needed to add a gain control to the circuit, so i did this just befor the input cap:

       -------||---------------
       |      100pf      |
       |                    |
       /                    |
       \ 250K            |
       /  <-------------
       \
       |
       /
       \
       / 10K
       \
       |
      grd

It works great, except that theres a big leap in distortion just before turning to full gain. Any idea on how to stop this ? ps, im using a 250k LOG pot. i think thats right...

It's likely that the big leap is caused by the log pot.  Try a linear taper pot to smooth out the increase in the last part of the rotation.

Or reverse-wire your log pot for the smoothest tweaking.
