Post by: downweverything on March 04, 2004, 02:25:44 PM
i was wondering if anybody knew how to add the contour pot like in a bad horsie 2 to a bad horsie 1, i dont need any of the other stuff though like the switch and and volume, just a simple mod.  heres the schematic http://www.morleypedals.com/vai-1.pdf

if you look at the resistor across the inductor.. R15.  replace this with a 100k pot.

That Bad Horsie looks very crybaby-ish.  I was always led to believe that Morely had something unique going on...so it must all be in the optical modulation scheme.  They're pedals seem to be durable and quality in the mechanical aspect of things.

Anyone know of a company that uses "inductor-less" active filters to make a good sounding wah?  Most envelope filters are inductorless active filters, but I haven't seen this modulated with a pedal in a normal wah yet...but the only wah schematics I have seen are Moreley and Dunlop Crybaby, so that leaves a broad world of wah that I am ignorant of...

HaHa, just found the Bass Wah uses the butterworth active filter topology used in the Dr. Q modulated with an LDR

Now, whether it's a good sounding bass wah....anybody used it???

Ibanez made a wah called the WH10 (I believe). Came in a crappy plastic pedal (the same as Boss uses for their expression pedals) but lots of people really like them. No inductor.

A guy paid me once to put the guts from a WH10 into a metal shell. He had broken the pedal in half. He wanted me to put it into the shell of an old working Maestro Boomerang wah. I found another metal pedal shell and took the Maestro as part payment for the work.

Actually Morley usually does have  a different filter scheme going than the Vox-setup. I guess Vai wanted a wah that functioned like a Morley (no pot so no scratches, auto-on/off) but that also sounded good. So they essentially stuck in a Vox ;)

Yeah, I actually did end up looking through and printing off the rest of Morely wah schematics, and kinda answered my own question.
