I want to get a collection of small value caps to expirament with passive filters, and was wondering what sort of values to get? Any values that are more useful than others? Thanks.
1uF, 0.68uF, 0.1uF, 0.05uF are all good values to start with :)
Here's my medium length list:
220pf, 330pf, 500pf (silver mica)
.001, .0022, .0047, .01, .022, .047, .1, .22, .47 (mylar or other film)
1, 4.7, 10, 22 (good electrolytic)
With those values you can put multiple caps in parallel to get most values you would need for breadboarding.
Take care,
-Peter
those will give you a good range to experiment with. In the FAQ there should be a link (at least) to some kind of page on calculating RC filters, putting caps in series/parallel, etc. Absorb it all.
Use sockets, and experiment to your hearts content, I say ;)
