Awright,I Pnp'd and etched a brand new board for the Pulsar and bought all new parts and it still has the same inherrent flaw my first attempt did... so my question is this...
Is there anyway to get rid of that god awful ticking when it's bypassed?
Issue 2... I built the BSAIB with all new parts (Steve to the rescue wit da J201's!) and it works beautifully... when it ISN'T bypassed. When It's bypassed, If the gain is maxed, I get a high pitched whine that will go away if I back off the gain pot. Would this be a grounding issue?
Whatever a BSAIB may be, it sounds as if its input is floating when bypassed!
Oops, BSIAB = Brown Sound In A Box Mis-spelled it twice :roll:
Don`t know that one either, but still sounds like the switch needs different wiring.
Regarding the BSIAB and other high gain effects that 'whine' when bypassed, the best way to fix that, IMO, is to re-wire the dpdt to ground the input when bypassed. JD's fantastic site has it drawn out here: http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/v2/diagrams/bsiabpl.gif
For the BSIAB build, go to General Guitar Gadgets, and look up JD's section on adding true bypass switching. One version is true bypass with the input of the effect grounded when in bypass mode. Implement that switching scheme and that should do the trick.
As for the pulsar, i am unfamiliar with this schematic. Is this a tremolo? If so, I would first make sure that the lfo and all wires that carry the lfo are kept as far away from the audio path as possible. Try shielding the input and outputs. Also, as a last ditch effort, try placing a relatively large resistor, e.g., 1k-1.2k, between the v+ line and the power connection that powers the lfo.

I looked at that switch wiring for the BSIAB but it interferes with the Millenium bypass I have attached, so I'll hafta figger something out
