Title: What effect am I looking for
Post by: stratking on March 13, 2004, 12:07:40 AM
Hey guys, I'm a newbie getting ready to build my second stompbox but I'm not sure which project would be best suited for me.  I think I'm looking for a booster of some sort.  I have a strat playing through a '65 Champ that has a surprising amount of clean headroom.  I am looking for a pedal that will simply get the tubes cooking a little sooner and bring out a good level of overdrive w/o getting into fullblown distortion.  I am looking at the rangemaster but what wondering what you guys would suggest.

Thanks,

stratking

2 suggestions
 LPB1
 Mosfet Boost
 Rangemaster [well 3 then]
These are listed in 'my' order of complexity, and parts availability...LPB is pretty simple.

I would suggest the lpb2--easy and nice as well as the second-mosfet boost..great too----both easy builds! Even some distortion effects may work as well w the gain down..too many to choose from...

Good luck!  May you find the sounds you search for!!

I second the LPB and MOSFET boost. They're both very good clean boosters.
