I've made em using a string/spring
 The string wraps aound the knob...the spring keeps tension and the other end of the string goes to the treadle...I have a splitter blend with a clock spring take up reel.
 The one way is like wah with gears...not for casual building...much easier with the cast or machined gears...

Sorry I don't have any drawings, but look at the foot-pedal speed controls for sewing machines for some ideas.

You might also want to look at Puretube's tube-wah for some inspiration. http://www.pure-tube-technology.de/

(I'll return your PM soon, sorry I have too many PMs in my in basket;))

Take care,
-Peter

that cogwheel (and pinion...what`s the name ?) is to be found at www.conrad.de (europe`s biggest hobbyist mailorder) - not cheap - ;

Since our friend here is located in brazil, i.i.r.c., I suggest he finds a cheap "broken" 2nd hand vol- or wah-pedal (if possible), and bring
that to his mechanic, to check it in detail.
