Title: Booster Pot Noise question
Post by: dosmun on March 15, 2004, 11:02:39 AM
I tried to find info on this but didn't.  Sorry if this has been covered.  I was just wondering what causes the pot nosie in a Mosfet circuit such as a SHO type circuit?  I have built a few different boosters such as the Jack O. Mosfet Booster and a another Mos boost that has the Pot noise like my SHO.  What in the JO Boost gets rid of the pot noise?

Thanks for any enlightenment on this.

Mine makes a noise like you describe, when not being adjusted the circuit is perfectly quiet...you want a pot that's silent when turned?

Yes.  I was just wondering what caused the noise when the pot is turned.  Someone told me once that they thought it sounded like their was DC on the pot.

That's what it is. On a Rangemaster or a Z.Vex SHO the level pots control bias voltage.
