Title: Boss DD-6 Tap Tempo
Post by: 12StringStratMaker on March 16, 2004, 10:03:15 PM
Do anyone know if it's possible to modify the 2 seconds you have to press to get the tap tempo.  I'm thinking it's probably not possible but if it is, I'd love to change it down to 1 second.
Any ideas would be awesome.

Unfortunately, the tap tempo is controlled by code stored in the CPU â€" IC5 (UPD780034AGK-B02-9ET V1.00). You would need to get the engineer who wrote the code at Boss to write new code. Sorry, that’s digital for ya!
I suppose someone who was crafty could de-solder IC5, download the code out of the CPU and try and hack into it and then reprogram a new IC. But that’s some pretty heavy shit... Way too much work!

Not to mention that the code has already been compiled prior to being
loaded into the chip so it's not like you can just get a dump of it and mod away.  You'd be better off writing a whole new program yourself.
