If I was to build the EA without the tremolo bit (just the booster section) what would I leave in / leave out?

Just build the whole thing and turn down the depth knob all the way.
GEO has a cool articly about Mosfet Boosters and biasing mosfets.
Looks to me like the first Mosfet boosts, but gain on it is set by the rest of the circuit...looks can be decieving...maybe someone else can say more for sure.

Just build yourself a single stage MOSFET booster (common source circuit). Check out AMZ
