how often does one come across a bad resistor.one that does not allow any current thru.

Not very often, but I was working on a tube amp last night and that's what the problem turned out to be.

I'd say often enough that it's a possibility to consider while troubleshooting. :-)

Really, though, in my experience with troubleshooting circuits, it's so often more a problem with bad connections than bad components (provided you stay away from Philmore pots).

thanks.it did turn out to be the resistor.this was my first pedal so it seemed to me i had to of made a mistake.what a surprise.
