Title: vacuum tube pedals?
Post by: anyuser00 on March 19, 2004, 06:33:38 PM
Does anyone have know of any DIY or schematics for effects pedals using vacuum tubes?  I've done the McTube, it sounds great for my tastes into a Fender Twin.

Okay, before anyone asks, I know-I know, it would be easier etc. to do solid state.  However, I'm building my own Tube Amps so I thought it would be cool to throw something like that into it since the power-supplies are usually the most costly parts.

Thanks.

There are a few overdriver/distortions out there. Try the search button and feed it words like "tube" and "12AX7". Somebody else asked about tube pedals very recently.

No schematics for these.... but if you like tubes, be sure to look at Puretube's sites. :D http://www.pure-tube-technology.de/ and http://www.puretube.com/ 8) Tube nirvana!

Take care,
-Peter

Here are some you could build:

Shaka Tube
Tube Driver clone
Matchless Hot Box clone
Real McTube
Ruby Tuby
Doug Hammond's Pentode Driver

I'm sure there is a few others, too.

Actually thinking more about it, I think I remember seeing something about a tube based Tube Screamer.  Anyone else or am I imagining things?
