Title: scavenging a kvm
Post by: javacody on March 24, 2004, 01:31:12 PM
I scavenged a KVM for the enclosure, wire, and 4 way switch. The switch has slide on modules with many modules that snap onto one another (round in shape) each with 15 connections. Anyone familiar with this kind of switch? I want to use it as kind of a varitone and need help figuring it out.

A KVM is a switch box to share one monitor, keyboard, and mouse between multiple computers. It has a 4 way switching pot, 1 each for mouse and keyboard, then 4 outputs to pluginto each computer's keyboard and mouse ps2 ports.

You need to get out your DMM. You'll probably find that each wafer goes pole/throw/throw/throw/throw/pole/throw/throw/throw/throw/...

If it switches one computer to 4 moniters, then the computer jack will lead to the poles. Color codes wires I hope.

Good luck!
