Title: I'm getting a few OC44 trans., what should I put them it??
Post by: stratking on March 25, 2004, 02:11:05 PM
Ok, I am pretty new to building pedals but have heard a lot of talk about these OC 44 germanium transistors.  I found a set of 5  for pretty cheap and am waiting for them to come in.  I was just wondering, besides the obligitory Rangemaster clone, what other pedals would benefit from having this transistor in them.

Also, the guy im buying these from also has other sets.  He has other ones like OC 43, OC 75, OC 76, AC 128, and some others.  Would any of these be good to pick up that are common in stompboxes?

Thanks,

stratking

I don't have/have never tried it.
Is'nt that one of the original types used?
Depending on leakage mostly and gain, you should be able to use these to get kool Ge tones...I like my VOX T.Booster these days too.
Trims and sockets or breadboard are good to have around these Ge tranny sockets, that way you can quickly bias different Q's, and try your transistors in different cct's.
